TOUR PLANNING, ANSWERED
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do tours meet?
Tours meet at the Explore Tahoe Visitor Center. Transportation from the designated meeting location is included. We do not currently offer pickup from hotels or vacation rentals.
How many guests can join a tour?
Tours can accommodate up to 14 guests. Reserve individual seats for a shared experience, or contact us to arrange a private tour. Groups wishing to reserve all 14 seats should call us; pricing may be adjusted based on the group and selected experience.
How long are the tours?
Most tours last approximately four to six hours. The exact duration may vary with the experience, route, traffic, weather, and seasonal conditions.
Are children welcome?
Absolutely! We love welcoming families and children of all ages. We do not provide car seats or booster seats, so parents and guardians must bring any child-safety seat required for their child.
What should I wear or bring?
Lake Tahoe weather can change throughout the day, so dress in comfortable layers for warm or cool conditions. We also recommend comfortable shoes, sun protection, and any personal items you may need.
What is included in the tour?
Bottled water and snacks are included. Depending on the tour, applicable entrance fees may also be included; please review the tour description when booking. Meals, souvenirs, personal purchases, and gratuities are not included. Gratuities are appreciated but never required.
What is the cancellation policy?
We understand that plans can change, and we will always try to accommodate you first. Whenever possible, we can move your reservation to another available tour or date. If rescheduling is not possible and you cancel before the day of your tour, we offer a full refund. Same-day cancellations may not be eligible for a refund. Viator reservations are also subject to the cancellation terms shown when you book.
What happens if weather or road conditions affect my tour?
Your safety and experience are our priorities. If weather, wildfire smoke, road closures, or other conditions make the route unsafe or unsuitable, we will try to offer another tour, route, or available date. If we cannot provide a suitable alternative, we will issue a refund.
Are the tours wheelchair accessible?
Our current tours and vehicles are not wheelchair accessible. Guests with limited mobility are encouraged to contact us before booking so we can discuss the walking requirements and help determine whether the experience will be suitable.
Are pets permitted?
Pets and other animals cannot be accommodated on our standard tours. If you have an accessibility-related need involving a trained service animal, please contact us before booking so we can discuss available arrangements.
How far in advance should I book?
You are welcome to reserve well in advance. When availability permits, bookings can be made up to 12 hours before the tour begins. We recommend booking early for weekends, holidays, and the busiest Lake Tahoe seasons.
Can you accommodate dietary needs or customized itineraries?
Guests can choose from a variety of local eateries to suit their dietary preferences. Shared tours follow a planned itinerary. Customized itineraries may be available for private tours, so please call us to discuss your group and the experience you have in mind.
What payment methods do you accept?
Online payments are securely processed through the platform used for your reservation, including Bókun, Viator, Square, or Stripe, subject to the payment methods each platform accepts. For eligible direct or on-site bookings, cash may be accepted. All required payment must be collected before the tour departs.
